As a child, growing up in the western world exhausted me. Confused and depressed by the belief that life is an endless race for the perfect grades, the perfect body, the perfect life, I often found myself feeling afraid and alone, except for the fleeting moments of connection that would come when I was surrounded by the trees, the clouds, and the starlit sky.
Feeling like a failure in a world of perfectionism, I fell into an eating disorder during my early teenage years as an easy-to-access comping mechanism, a trap that soon led to other addictions -- anything to escape the overwhelming feelings of confusion, anger and disconnect I was experiencing.
During these dark nights of my soul, yoga therapy found me and proved to be the most potent tool in my healing process. With every practice, I began to more deeply recognize my inherent worth, inner strength, and ability to thrive amidst any challenge life handed me.
After finding more presence in my body and my life, everything that was broken started to work again.
My addictions minimized, my body healed, and my work as a high school English teacher flourished. I attained my Masters Degree, traveled the world, and met my partner, Shawn, while serving in post-war Northern Uganda.
During this time, it became clear to me that it is my calling to share the tools that saved my life with others who might benefit, too.
With this in mind, I received my yoga teacher training in 2009 and took a leap of faith by quitting my job as a secondary school teacher and opened All Souls Yoga in 2014.
With a growing studio under my feet, I began an intensive professional training program with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy in 2017 and have been sharing these tools in a variety of settings including secondary schools, women's shelters, cancer centers, yoga studios and retreat centers ever since .
I enjoy a simple life with my husband Shawn and two daughters, Maple (6), Maggie (3), and our dog Gracie in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California.
I am so grateful to all of the teachers who have inspired me to share these gifts with the world.
